verbs

verbs are the focus of the clause, the main verb select the other elements of the clause.

FUNCTIONS:

-Main:

the central role in clause. the main verb select the others arguments of the clause.

-Auxiliary

qualifies the main verb.
talk about possibilities

-Lexical(FULL VERB)

function only as a main verb
carry a lot of means
it CAN´T be an auxiliaty verb
it is the most frequently class of verbs

-Single Words

only one word: to be; to run; to get; to fill....

-Multi-Words (PHRASAL VERBS)

adverbial participle: FIND OUT, PICK UP

prepositional: when you put the preposition in the front of the clause, making it a question AND it makes sense, it is prepositional.

-Primary

can funtion as an auxiliary verb

-Modal

only as an auxiliary verb: might; must; should;...
